I recently sent a memo to the heads of all executive branch agencies reminding them of their responsibility to foster an ethical culture and to ensure the success of their agency’s ethics program. I specifically highlighted their responsibility to designate qualified employees to serve as their agency’s top ethics officials. To assist them with this responsibility, OGE has created new templates for agency heads to use when designating the Designated Agency Ethics Official and Alternate Designated Agency Ethics Official. These templates serve to ensure that agency heads confirm that the individuals have the necessary qualifications to manage their ethics agency’s ethics program and to improve uniformity across the executive branch.
